Organisation of Rural Development
ORD (Organisation for Rural Development) wants to bring a smile on everyone’s face without discriminating against them on the basis of caste, creed, sex, religion. They started their journey in 2008 and got registered in 2010. With a feeling of “work is worship”, the founder of this organisation Mr. Saiprakash Mohanty stepped into this path of bringing transformation in the lives of socially backward children, with the vision of changing their lifestyle, not just by giving them financial support but by enlightening them with education.
Mayurbhanj, where ORD started its philanthropic work, is dominated by scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) people. It lacks small-scale and large-scale industries and is surrounded by dense forest. The inhabitants depend on the forest to meet their livelihood and have a negligible literacy rate. As a result, government projects also fail in these areas.
Since then, ORD has shaped the lives of nearly 2745 children.
- Among them, some kids are pursuing higher education and some are engaged in different work for earning their livelihood.
- At present they have 174 children under the project “slum to school” in three different places. ORD gives them nutritious food every morning.
- ORD is also giving free computer education to about 437 children including dropout girls. ORD is also providing training to 15 girls on Harmonium, Tabla and various musical instruments.
- ORD has opened a developmental house for girls, where 40 girls & boys are living and are given proper education, sanitation and a healthy environment. Every year they distribute about 1000 clothes and blankets among children and adults in the interior regions of Mayurbhanj district.
- Every month ORD does awareness programmes on Child Marriage, Cancer, Literacy, Mother and Child Care and Superstition apart from running a residential school for class 1 to 8.
RV Diya Trust provides monthly groceries of up to INR 20,000.
